This is the guitar neck. These wires are called strings. This is the plectrum. Now that we have learned to how play Froggy Went a-Courtin', let's move on to... Highlander Boogie!
Rhythm
Several devices are used throughout the tune which keep the momentum driving forward, and the excitement level high.
An obvious example of this is the change to the G-chord played on the upbeat of 4 rather than waiting for the downbeat of 1 in the comping rhythm in some measures of the A-G-D-A section. This rhythmic technique is employed by Lynyrd Skynrd in the opening riff of Gimme Three Steps. ZZ Top uses this in several songs.
In any case, when I listen to the recording I made of myself, I'm stunned by how poor my rhythm playing is. I wince as I listen to myself, adding rests, and missing beats all over the place. And this is while I'm using a metronome!
So... I really can't offer much help on this topic, at least until my own rhythm improves.
A very obvious place where I'm clearly struggling is with the E (chords) which lead the A/C section into the next section. Jeez... it's sounds like I'm on thorazine or something. Embarrassing.
Well, I guess the first steps toward improving are identifying where you suck, so at least I got that going for me!
